The Houston Waterwall
Houston, Texas

Hi, I’m Keith.

Photographer. Space nerd. Road warrior. This page is the longer version — who I am, what I’m looking for, and how to reach me.

The short version

Keith

I shoot photos of this city for a living, and I still find new corners of it. Home is Houston — and two dogs, Shay and Bunny, who would like you to know they run the place.

The rest of the time I’m on the road. Toronto, LA, DC, and a lot of two-lane highways in between. I have a hard drive with about 1,700 photos from a decade of it, and I’m finally posting the whole archive, one album a day.

If you landed here from Instagram, you’ve seen the highlight reel. This is the story behind it.

1,700 photos, one album a day

November 2026

Somewhere along the way I ended up with about 1,700 photos sitting on Flickr — road trips, museums, dive bars, NASA stops, three dogs, and half the back roads of Texas. Photos in a drawer don’t do anybody any good, so I’m moving the whole archive to Instagram, one album a day, in the order I shot it. Some of it’s good. Some of it’s a fire hydrant I thought was art in 2012. All of it’s honest. Follow along — the road’s better with company.

Carhenge is real, and worth the drive

Midwest road trip, 2013

Outside Alliance, Nebraska, there’s a field where somebody buried a few dozen American cars nose-down in the dirt and painted them grey, and if that sounds like a joke, it is — right up until you’re standing in front of it at sunset and it isn’t. I drove hours out of my way for it in 2013 and shot it in blazing sun and, later, in the snow. People ask why. Because it’s there, because somebody built the thing they imagined, and because the long way is usually the story. That’s the whole philosophy, really.

Escalator to an endless wait

May 12, 2024

The plan was simple: Houston to Chicago, hotel, work in the morning, bags on to Toronto. The airport had other ideas. My flight kept getting pushed, my bags were headed to a customs line in Toronto without me, and I stood there doing the traveler’s math — cancel, rebook, or ride it out. I rode it out. I’ve missed exactly one flight in my life that was my fault, in Fort Lauderdale, and I still remember it 24 years later. That’s the price of rest when you travel: sometimes you take the risk on the cheap ticket and the long layover, and sometimes the road collects. Take the nonstop when it matters. The rest of the time, keep moving.

What I’m looking for

Someone in Houston who’d rather explore a museum, chase a sunset down a back road, or hunt down the best taco truck in the city than swipe forever. I pay attention for a living — to light, to places, to people. It turns out that’s most of what a good relationship is, too.

No games, no pen pals in other time zones. If it sounds like you, it probably is.

Say hi
